Jasper Viking Dog is the February 2020 Book of the Month at Love Reading, and they gave the following review:
Charlie Tanner's dog Jasper thinks he's descended from Viking dogs and is determined to find out more. This sparks a series of very funny letters from Charlie to the curator at the local Viking museum, in which Charlie poses questions from Jasper. In fact, questions and answers tell us lots about Viking life and the unusual and ingenious presentation makes it all extremely readable and accessible. A great way to learn about the Vikings. Jasper has explored space for readers too, and it looks he has more adventures to come, which is good news.

Launch of Jasper Space Dog
Jasper Space Dog, the latest book from Hilary, illustrated by Lewis James, has been released to support space topics in schools and to mark the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing on July 20th, 1969. Six hours later, on the 21st July, Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the lunar surface.
Mixing facts about space travel with hilarious ideas about the moon, Jasper Space Dog was selected as Love Reading4Kids Book of the Month in April and described by Julia Eccleshare as a book where “there’s much to enjoy as well as much to learn from this introduction to an important topic”. Hilary will be taking part in several events to mark the Summer Reading Challenge the theme of which, this year, is Space Chase.

Historical Association’s Young Quills
A Song For Will and The Lost Gardeners Of Heligan has been shortlisted for the Historical Association’s Young Quills Award 2018! You can find it in the 7-9 years olds section. And there are also some Young Quills reviews.

PDSA Writing Competition
The UK’s leading veterinary charity, the PDSA, has launched its annual Animal Heroes Writing Competition 2017 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of World Book Day. Hilary has teamed up with the charity to write the beginning, middle and end of a story called ‘Buddy Saves The Day’ – and it’s up to young people to write the rest!
The winner will receive a set of signed books including Flo of the Somme, an Amazon Kindle and an opportunity to meet Hilary herself at one of the PDSA Pet Hospitals.

A Song For Will
Special, limited edition copies of 'A Song For Will' - The Lost Gardeners of Heligan is published this month. Hilary and illustrator, Martin Impey, worked in partnership with The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall to produce a stunning, highly illustrated story for children and young adults about the gardeners and outdoor staff of the estate who enlisted after the outbreak of World War 1. The story, which has drawn on archive and military detail of the time and includes many local landmarks and places of interest at Heligan, has been described as a deeply moving tribute.
